SIM worked beautifully in Akumal/Cancun
scottse from U.S
This SIM card worked great. Never had any issues calling nor connecting while in Akumal, Chichenitza (pyramids), or the airport near Cancun. I was very pleased to have cell service at all times, including the data package. I would like to see lower per minute costs ($.10/min) but it was reasonable compared to other carriers. All in all, great product and I recommend this to anyone traveling to Mexico.

Be sure your phone is really unlocked
Mexico Bound from Richmond VA
We bought this card for use while on vacation in Puerto Vallarta. We also bought an "unlocked" Samsung ATT flip phone through [@]. The phone worked fine in the USA but when we arrived in Mexico we found the the menu item "select network" was blocked so we were unable to use the phone which was in fact "locked". The lesson: be double sure that you have an unlocked phone. We were happy with everything Cellular Abroad did.

Works but Poor Coverage Areas
The Hiker from Mass
AT&T service is very poor along the beginning of the AT. Verizon phones did function much more often. So, if you are hiking the AT and want the phone to make a connection, AT&T is not the best choice. Product does work in the larger cities.

Overall good, but voice mail frustrating
Windsurfer John from Minnesota
The phone was great overall. However, we had a medical issue that required our doctor to get back to us. We wanted to use voice mail, since we were in and out of coverage. It turns out that since we had not set up voice mail in the states there was no way to set voice mail up remotely. This is clearly document *but still very frustrating!".

Incorrect dialing instructions
Bertieboy from Fort Worth, Texas
The dialing instructions said that while in Mexico dial back to the US with area code and number. This was incorrect. I needed 011 + area code + number. Within Mexico to dial a number I was told to just dial the number. In reality I had to dial 001 + country code + the whole number.

Will the SIM card work with my phone?
As long as your cell phone is unlocked and has the 850 and 1900 Mhz bands, it is compatible with our service. Please be sure to select the correct SIM card size for your cell phone. SIM cards are available in standard, micro and nano sizes.
How do I know if my phone is unlocked?
You cannot tell physically if your cell phone is unlocked. If you are with AT&T and you put a different SIM card (such as T-Mobile) in and it picks up a network, it is unlocked. Conversely, if you put another SIM card in and it says, "enter subsidy code" or similar, it is locked. Call your carrier to check to see if your phone is unlocked or if it qualifies for being unlocked. If your phone is from AT&T, even though it is not unlocked, you will still be able to use the Mexico SIM card.
Do you offer micro and nano SIM cards?
Yes we do. They are available during checkout.
Why don't I just purchase a SIM card when I get to Mexico?
Purchasing a SIM card in Mexico typically entails a lengthy wait in Mexico. In addition, if you don't speak Spanish, explaining what you need to do may prove to be a challenge. Moreover, this particular SIM card is not sold in Mexico and the rates are definitely more expensive.
How good is the coverage?
In a word; excellent. As a rule of thumb, as long as there are roads that are traveled on and houses where people live, there is coverage, including Baja California.
Will it work as soon as I land in Mexico?
The SIM will work in the US as well as Mexico as soon as it is activated. Please email us the activation date as per the instructions we provide together with the SIM card.
Can I keep my usual number?
Yes you can. While the SIM card will have a different phone number than you currently have, you can forward your current number to the new number, this retaining your usual number.
Can I use the SIM card next year when I go to Mexico?
The service, along with the phone number, will expire after 30 days from activation unless you purchase additional 30 days of service.
