Japan Cellular and Data Plans

Japan has some of the best cellular service in the world. However, if you roam with your US or Canadian provider, you will be accessing a slower version of data service than is available to the locals. In fact, T-Mobile and Sprint's free data roaming offer is barely usable at 2G speeds while Verizon's service in Japan is about a third of the speed of what you can expect in the US.
