Australia SIM Card

The Lebara SIM card for Australia is available in standard, micro and nano sizes and is the perfect solution for travelers who need an affordable and easy solution for making and receiving calls and having data capabilities while in Australia. The service includes unlimited calling and text messaging within Australia, unlimited calls back to the United States and Canada, and free incoming calls. The SIM also includes 14GB of mobile data at 4G speeds. The plan is valid for 30 days from the moment you start to use it and is renewable for an additional $99.95. Please make sure that your cell phone is carrier unlocked. In addition, please make sure to order either a standard, micro or nano SIM according to the requirements of you device.

While incoming calls are free, callers from the United States or Canada will have to pay international rates in order to reach your Australian number. The US number add-on gives you a US number in addition to the Australian number already on your SIM. You can forward your current phone number to the new US number we assign or just give your contacts your new number. Each $19 offers 146 minutes of incoming calls on the US number.

Australia SIM card FAQs

Will the Australia SIM card work with my phone?
As long as your cell phone is unlocked and can support the 900/1800 band frequencies your phone is compatible with the Australian SIM. All smart phones support 900/1800.

How do I know if my phone is unlocked?
You cannot tell physically if your cell phone is unlocked. If you put in a SIM card (other than your US carriers brand) and it picks up a network, it is unlocked. Conversely, if it says, "enter subsidy code" or similar, it is locked. Call your carrier to check to see if your phone is unlocked or if it qualifies for being unlocked. If you are a Verizon customer and have an iPhone 5 or 6, your phone is unlocked and you need a nano SIM card.

Do you offer micro and nano SIM cards?
Yes we do. They are for selection above "add to cart"

How do I know if I need a standard, micro or nano SIM card?
Check with your carrier or Google your model number and ask what SIM size it uses. Most Samsung Galaxy phones use micro SIMs, the iphone 5/6 uses a nano SIM.

How good is the coverage?
This is a local service. Your phone will have reception where ever the locals have reception. Coverage is excellent.

Where can I get more SMS credit?
You can get additional call credit either through Cellular Abroad or through most convenience stores in Australia.

Will it work as soon as I land in Australia?
Yes. We do request your departure date, date of birth and passport number be emailed once you receive the SIM in order to pre activate your service.

How much will it cost people in the USA/Canada to call me on my Australian number?
It is an international outgoing call, for the dialer from the US, to reach you on your Australian number, so their rate depends on their plan through their carrier. A great option is to add the "US Number" feature to your service. Each $19 will give you 146 minutes of incoming calls on a US number.

Can I keep my usual number?
Yes you can. Purchase the US Number add on and forward your current number to the new one (ask your carrier what the procedure is). This is ideal for business travelers who need to be reached at all times but is also a double edged sword for travelers going for a bit of rest and relaxation as anyone who calls your usual number will reach you. Another option is just to give a select few your new US number.

Can I use the SIM card next year when I go to Australia?
You need to add call credit at least once every 90 days in order to retain the phone number so, while yes you could retain the number, you may be better of just purchasing a new SIM card next time you travel.
