The National Geographic Talk Abroad 'Lite' Phone

What Phone should I choose?

If you (or the person you are buying the phone for) likes to send a lot of text messages, it is strongly recommended that you get a phone with a full QWERTY keypad or a touch screen, as texting with a conventional keypad is often slow and inefficient.

If you do not consider yourself technically savvy and just need a phone for making and receiving phone calls, we recommend our entry level phone; BLU™ Click. Phones packed with advanced features can sometimes be a hindrance, especially if one just wants to make and receive calls.

If you plan on staying connected while travelling, we offer a selection of 3G and WiFi enabled handsets. If you are traveling to Japan, your phone must be capable of 3G (UMTS 850 / 1900) connectivity.

Do you need an extremely durable or even waterproof handset? The Samsung B2100 is the perfect solution. This is the preferred cell phone for those who may be exposed to the elements such as sailors, back packers and hikers.

BLU™ Lite

The BLU™ Lite cell phone is an affordable and easy to use quad band phone. This is an exceptional value for those that need a quad band phone. Quad band phones work all over the world with the exception of Japan and Korea. This phone is simple and does not have a lot of features which, for most travelers, is a plus as most people do not want to go through a learning curve to learn how to use a new phone while they are on vacation. The only feature that is out of the ordinary is a built-in flashlight which many will find convenient. This phone is FCC approved.

BLU™ Samba Jr/Travel Phone

The BLU™ Samba Q, besides having many features of a respectable phone such as all 4 GSM bands, GPRS, a micro SD slot, camera and a full QWERTY keypad make the BLU™ Samba Q perfect for sending international text messages.

Samsung GTI5500 Galaxy Europa

The Samsung Galaxy Europa is one of our more popular phone models. This phone truly has it all– WiFi, 3G, a touch screen and functions on the powerful Android operating system, and of course is also a quad band phone. This is powerful handset is our most affordable smart phone model, less expensive than some of the other handsets that offer 3G and wifi.

Nokia 7230

The Nokia 7230 is a quad band phone that also works in Japan. Very few handsets on the market offer 2100 UMTS for Japan and the Nokia 7230 is one of those rare exceptions. It is also an attractive and compact handset and is popular with the business traveler. It is hard to go wrong with a Nokia.
