Map of Thailand
Thailand is a country that one visits for pleasure, business, and education. It can provide a traveler's dream come true in its unique culture and scenic beauty. Known in the western world for its delectable cuisine and unique cultural advantages and challenges, Thailand is a place that defies pre-conceived notions upon a first visit.
The most famous part of Thailand is Bangkok. Without a "downtown" and streets that are not clearly defined in their direction at first glance, Bangkok can confuse and fascinate the traveler in one breath. In the past two and a half decades all has changed in Bangkok; the changes began when it was the place that virtually all servicemen in Vietnam went for fun. The population has increased by millions, making having space and making breathing somewhat of a challenge in the over-crowded city.
Despite the smog therein, there is such a kinetic joy to behold within Bangkok, the history and lively caring of the people bring it all the more fun to experience.
Thailand was known as Siam originally, and remains the only Southeast Asian country to never have been taken over by a European leader. Since 1932, Thailand has been run by a constitutional monarchy which makes the country run smoothly and fairly for Thais.
Bordering the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, the wonders of the seas bring about a mystical-like beauty in contrast to some crowding and chaos on the land. You want to visit this wonder called Thailand to learn, grow, and also to have fun!
