You will have a European phone number, regardless of where you are traveling. Cellular Abroad will email you your phone number the day that we ship out your order (usually the same day you place the order or if after 3 Pacific Time, the next business day). Your phone number will also be clearly marked in your Talk Abroad package.
Activating your Service:
Simply make a call in order to activate your service. Your phone service is valid for 9 months from the day of activation. Each recharge will extend your service life for an additional 9 months from the date of the recharge.
Checking your Call Credit:
You may check your credit at any time by dialing a 3 digit number on your handset. If you need additional talk time, call Cellular Abroad and we will add it to your account.
Adding Talk Time:
You can add talk time at any time - either along with your purchase or prior to or during your trip. Simply call Cellular Abroad and we will immediately add talk time for you using your account information already on file or an alternative credit card. Additional call credit is $23 for 30 minutes of talk time (for most destinations).
Making and Receving Calls:
When you make a call, charges begin only when the other party answers the call or if it goes to voicemail. Outgoing and incoming call charges are based on 60 second intervals. Cellular Abroad recommends that parties calling from the US to your Talk Abroad cell phone number use Gorilla Mobile since, based on our experience, they provide the best service to cell phones with a Liechtenstein number, including the Talk Abroad.
Service Life:
From the time you activate the service (make your first call), the service life of the phone is 9 months. However, if you recharge your phone, your service life will be extended another 9 months.
Voice Mail:
Your voice mail is already activated. You can listen to your messages from your handset by calling a 3 digit number on your handset and following the prompts. (Access from a landline is also available.) You can also personalize your greeting by following the prompts in the voice mail options. Call rates to your voice mail are billed as normal calls. You will receive a text message alerting you of any new voicemails. PLEASE NOTE: Voice mail will only pick up under the following circumstances: When the phone is on but not answered, when the line is busy (phone is in use) or when all calls are diverted to voice mail.
SMS:
You can send and receive SMS text messages from your Talk Abroad international cell phone. However, Cellular Abroad cannot be responsible nor guarantee that you will always be able to send and receive SMS messages in all circumstances and in all countries. The initial Talk Abroad Package gives you 42 SMS messages and each additional $23 call credit gives you 36 outgoing messages (the equivalent of 0.49 Euros per message).
Other SIM Cards:
The Talk Abroad package consists of an unlocked tri-band phone with an international prepaid SIM card. You are not "locked" into only using the SIM card that comes with the package. If you would like to use a Country Specific SIM Card in your phone, you may do so.
A Country Specific SIM Card is usually advantageous if you plan to spend a certain portion of your trip in a specific country (or countries) in order to take advantage of that country's rates, usually including unlimited free incoming calls. Please click here for a list of our Country Specific SIM Cards.
Coverage and Talk Time
(Note: your Talk Abroad phone number does not change, regardless of the country you are in and you can always be reached at the same number.)
