Requirements:
A GSM cellular phone with no service-provider lock. If you are unsure whether your phone is locked or not, test it with a SIM card from a service provider other than your own. The phone must be capable of functioning in the 900 GSM band. (More bands are ok.)

Your Saudi Arabia SIM Card Cell Phone Number:
The local number that comes with your SIM card will be located on the packaging that the SIM comes in. It will also have a PIN number that you may have to input if prompted during activation.

Preparing Your Phone for use overseas:
While you won't be able to use your SIM card until you get to Saudi Arabia, there are a few things you can do to test your equipment and prep your phone.

  • Test that your phone charger works well with your phone and make sure your phone's battery can take and hold a charge. (All Cellular Abroad phones come with variable-voltage chargers.)
  • Snap out the SIM chip from the SIM card and insert the chip into your GSM Phone with the metal portion facing down as to make contact with the contact prongs. (You'll usually find your phone's SIM card slot underneath the battery of your GSM cell phone. Consult your phone manual if unsure of the proper installation procedure.)
  • Turn on your phone and familiarize yourself with the menus. If prompted for a PIN number, enter the PIN 1 number which is given with the card. To disable PIN-check at startup, consult your phone's user guide.

Activating Your Service:
Insert the SIM card into your cell phone and enter the PIN 1 number which is given with the card.
After doing so, call 1500 and select your desired language.

Customer service for your Saudi Arabia prepaid SIM card is available 24 hr./day by dialing 902 at any time from your Saudi cellular phone.

Checking Your Credit:
To check your free balance, simply dial *166#.

Recharging Your SIM Card:
Additional credit is available through the purchase of airtime vouchers, also called reload codes (not another SIM card), in Saudi Arabia. Airtime vouchers are available locally throughout Saudi Arabia at most convenience stores, petrol stations, SAWA authorized dealers and distributors.To add airtime dial 1500 and enter 13 digit PIN code (found on voucher) followed by the instruction.

Voicemail:
By dialing 955. the customer enters the set-up menu for voicemail. Follow the setup menu and your voicemail-box is activated. To use your voicemail service, please forward to +96654000000. In the following situations:

  • If there is no answer, dial: **61*+96654000000#
  • If line is busy, dial: **67*+96654000000#
  • If phone is off, dial: **62*+96654000000#
  • If there is no coverage, dial: **62*+96654000000#

Once you received a message in your mailbox you will be notified by SMS that a new message in your mailbox. To retrieve messages: dial 955 when in the Kingdom or +96654000000 when abroad. You type in the pincode provided at set-up and listen to the Messages.

SMS:
SMS is available for all customers and can be used instantly. In case you face problems sending SMS messages, please dial 902, or enter the setup number in your/mobile (SMS Centre): +96655031999

Service Life:
Each time you add credit to the SIM, the validation is extended according to the validity period of each recharge card. If this credit expires, you then have 60 days to recharge the credit on your SIM card. After this time period, the SIM card will expire.

Multi-Country Travel
You can also purchase other SIM cards as well for other countries to where you may be traveling. (This option is good for those planning on doing a lot of local calling.)
