Map of New Zealand
A map of New Zealand reveals that New Zealand is a series of islands located in the South Pacific Ocean, southeast of Australia. New Zealand is about the size of Colorado and is predominately mountainous with some large coastal plains. The weather is temperate with sharp regional contrasts. About 80% of the population lives in cities such as Wellington, which incidentally is the southernmost national capital in the world. New ZealandŐs inhabitants are comprised of the following ethnicities: European 74.5%, Maori 9.7%, other European 4.6%, Pacific Islander 3.8%, Asian and others 7.4%
Economically, the country has traditionally relied heavily on agriculture and agrarian trade but recently New Zealand has been transforming more to an industrialized, free market economy that can compete globally and has thus experienced growth. Still, the country lags behind the top four largest European economies. The New Zealand economy is highly susceptible to the world economy and typically lags behind the US by about 6 months in terms of economic cycles.
