Cellular Abroad only sells and only believes in selling "unlocked" GSM cellular phones. Our Nokia GSM cell phones, as well as all other the brands we list, will accept just about any SIM card you insert in the phone - just as the manufacturer produces them. (It's the carrier that locks the phone so you won't switch to a competitor). Be sure that the Nokia cell phone you select offers the network capability that you require; typically 1900 MHz for the US and Canada and 900/1800 for international use. To be sure, check with your provider. Some cellular phones are tri-band and will work domestically as well as abroad with any carrier. If you currently already have a GSM provider, you can simply purchase a Nokia tri-band GSM cell phone, slip out your current SIM card, place it into your new GSM phone, and you are ready to go. If you are not sure if your current provider utilizes GSM, be sure to find out through them if they do! If your current provider uses a system other than GSM, you won't be able to use a GSM cell phone and all the advantages that go with GSM without switching to a provider that does.
