Dialing information
Your phone needs to be an unlocked dual-band, tri-band or quad-band GSM phone capable of functioning on the 900/1800 MHz GSM band in order to accept the SIM card.
Your India Cell to US: 001 – area code – phone number
US to Your India Cell: 011 – 91 – area code – phone number
Your India Cell Number to India: area code - phone number
Bahamas to Your India Cell Number: area code - phone number
Important: Toll free 800 numbers based in the US can not always be called from overseas cell phones.
Please Note: There is no support for service when roaming outside of the India.
Rental Setup
- Make sure your phone is charged and the menu settings are in English.
For SIM Purchases Only
Snap out the SIM chip from the SIM card and insert the chip into your GSM Phone with the metal portion facing down as to make contact with the contact prongs.

Activating your service
- You may start calling. No activation required.
Call Credit
Your account balance is updated on the screen of your handset at the end of each chargeable call. You can also call 123 from your mobile phone and listen to the voice announcement or simply dial *123#, press 'OK' or 'YES' button and your account balance will be displayed on the screen of your handset
You may check your remaining credit as often as you like, free of charge.
- Enter *123# on your cell phone. Press talk or send.

Adding Talk Time
Simply follow the procedure mentioned below, to recharge your phone.
- Gently scratch the silver panel on the recharge card for a 16-digit number.
- Call '123' and choose your preferred language.
- Follow the voice announcement and enter the 16-digit recharge number, when requested.
- Your prepaid account will be automatically recharged by the calling value amount and validity of your coupon.
Voice Mail
You can divert your calls to voice mail from call settings. Voicemail will take a message for you, and play it back to you when,
- Your mobile phone is switched off.
- You are already engaged on another call.
- You have selected the call divert option.
- You are in an area that is not covered by the network.
Your voice mail local access phone number can be obtained by emailing your
phone number to Airtel at 121@airtelindia.com, subject heading "Voice mail
number" or call 121 when you arrive in India."
Troubleshooting
If you are unable to make or receive calls switch networks on your phone. Consult your phone’s manual. The steps will be like these:
- Menu > Settings/Setup > Network > Available Network/Change Network > Search
- Select a different network carrier than the one currently shown.
If you are receiving no reception bars, emergency calls only, SOS, or no service
check your phones band setting: Consult your phone’s manual. The steps will be like these:
- Menu > Settings/Setup > Network > Network Setup >Band
- Make sure you select 900/1800

Service Life
Each time you add airtime to the SIM, the validity period is extended according to each recharge card. If this credit expires, you then have 60 days to recharge the credit on your SIM card. After this time period, the SIM card will expire and any remaining airtime will be forfeit.
