Pre-owed Haier D6000 GSM Cell Phone
only $100

With its tri-band capability, the Haier D6000 let's you communicate all over the world!

Cellular Abroad has tested and the Haier D6000 (pronounced "hire") and we have found it more than suitable for most users. The D6000 is a compact and lightweight triband GSM cell phone that is easy to use and easy to conceal even in your front pocket thus minimizing the possibility of theft or loss. Unlike many phones, the D6000 automatically detects the necessary network that is used in the country where you are located and therefore eliminates the need to follow a sometimes tricky configuration procedure. While the handset offers advanced features such as GPRS and polyphonic rintones, the real beauty of this handset is its compact size, ease of use....and its affordable pricetag.

Intuitive Interface
The Haier D6000 may sound like a poor man's Nokia, but it can pull some neat tricks of its own. This silver phone is small and very light at 63g, with a sleek metallic finish and average build quality. Unlike other handsets we've reviewed, it comes packed in a little black box--like a watch--together with a travel charger.

Apparently, customers are expected to grasp the mechanics of this handphone without print documentation. This faith is mostly justified, due to the intuitive menu that the D6000 employs. Seasoned Nokia users should especially make a smooth transition, thanks to a familiar button layout and scrolling icon interface. Navigation is swift, which makes typing SMS messages a breeze on the small, crisp buttons.

Multicolored Backlights
The D6000 comes with a sub-S$200 price tag, and understandably leaves out some hot, modern features. Notably it lacks a color display, although you can choose from a number of colored backlights, including cyan, blue, red and green.

This handset isn't completely bereft of multimedia amenities. It offers 20 loud, albeit machine-like, polyphonic ringing tones. There's also a ringtone editor for those with a creative bend.

Triple band technology is also available, which makes the phone a good choice if you're looking for an inexpensive handset for travel. GPRS is present, but it may be a bit of an overkill for an entry-level model.

Reception And Battery Life
The D6000's reception was good and we didn't experience any issues with voice quality. However, its battery life could have been better for a monochrome handset, chalking up less than three days of normal usage.
