Dialing information
Your phone needs to be an unlocked dual-band, tri-band or quad-band GSM phone capable of functioning on the 900/1800 MHz GSM band in order to accept the SIM card.

Your Greece Cell to US: 001 – area code – phone number
US to Your Greece Cell: 011 – 30 – 10-digit number
Your Greece Cell Number to Greece: area code - phone number
Greece to Your Greece Cell Number: area code - phone number

Important: Toll free 800 numbers based in the US can not always be called from overseas cell phones.

Please Note: There is no support for service when roaming outside of Greece

Rental Setup

  • Make sure your cell phone is fully charged and the language settings on the phone are set to English

For SIM Card Purchases Only
Snap out the SIM chip from the SIM card and insert the chip into the SIM tray of your GSM Phone with the metal portion facing down as to make contact with the contact prongs. (You will usually find your phone's SIM tray underneath the battery of your GSM cell phone).

  1. Turn on phone.
  2. Type the code for PIN 1, which is on the SIM card, and press the YES key. (Hang onto your PIN # in case you need it again!)

PIN and PUK codes
The PIN (Personal Identification Number) code prevents unauthorized access to the SIM card in your phone. If you enter the PIN code incorrectly 3 times in a row, the SIM card will be blocked. To un-block the SIM card, you will need to enter the PUK (Personal Unlock Key) code. Please consult your manual for how to disable the PIN-check feature.

Activating your service

  • Do NOT attempt to activate until you are in Greece.
  • Upon arrival make a call in order to activate service (Dial 1260 at no charge).

Changing Language of Audio Prompts
Audio prompts for the WIND card are in Greek. To change them into English, you will need to call 1276 and then enter 3 and then 2. If you have any problems, call WIND customer support or go to a WIND store. Most customer service agents speak English.

Voicemail
WIND's Voice Mail Service gives you the opportunity, even when:

  • Your mobile phone is turned off or outside coverage
  • A call is not answered
  • Your line is engaged
  • You have activated call divert to your voice mail for all your calls

To setup your voicemail, you must activate it by calling WIND Customer Care Service at 1260. They will set your voicemail prompts to English for you.
You can check your voice mail from a landline, internationally, or from your cell phone.

  • Dial 123 <OK/Send> from your handset.
  • You can change the voicemail settings by going through the audio menus

Checking Your Credit
Dialing 1268 gets balance information. Send a blank SMS to 1268 and receive balance info by SMS.

Purchasing More Talk Time
You may purchase recharge cards at convenience stores, gas stations, at most tobacco stores in 3 different denominations including €9, €15 and €30. Even if you have zero credit, since incoming calls are always free, you will still be able to receive calls.

Adding Talk Time

  1. Scratch off the protective coating on the back of the recharge card to reveal your 16 digit code
  2. Dial 1268 from your handset.
  3. Enter the digits from your recharge card 4 at a time followed by a #. For example, 1234#5678#2345#6789# could be a possible sequence.
  4. After a successful recharge, you will be given your current balance.

Alternately you can send an SMS to 1268 from your mobile phone (free of charge in Greece) with the 16 digit code as the text of the message (without spaces). If you plan to recharge from outside of Greece, make sure to consult first with WIND customer service to confirm that SMS roaming is enabled. You cannot recharge via the web or from another phone number.
