German SIM Card
Swap out your current Verizon, AT&T or other carriers' SIM card with our Lebara German SIM card and save big the next time you need voice and data capabilities in Germany. Lebara utilizes the T-Mobile network and provides coverage virtually throughout Germany. Your SIM card includes 500 minutes of outgoing calls to German, US and Canadian cell phones and landlines, unlimited incoming calls plus 1GB of high speed data. Need more talk time or mobile data? You can add another 500 minutes and another 2GB of data for just $49. This will give you a total of 1000 minutes of calls and 3GB of data. Your cell phone needs to be unlocked in order to use this SIM card. Please make sure to select the correct SIM card size for your phone. Germany SIM cards are available in standard, micro and nano sizes.
Please note that the service is valid for 30 days upon activation (activate the SIM simply by sending a text message when you arrive in Germany). For travelers with extended stays, you can purchase multiple 30 day packages of service or additional data.
While making calls is important, many travelers are relying on mobile data so they can check emails, use Google Maps, use Skype and more. The Lebara SIM card includes 1GB of data which is good for up to 30 days. Some travelers simply need more. You can add additional 2GB of high speed data for a total of 3GB for just $49 for each 30 days. As a bonus, you will get 500 minutes of additional free talk time per each 30 day bundle you purchase.
US Number Add-on
Your German SIM card comes with a German phone number which is great for when the locals call you but not so great when people from the US or Canada need to reach you. You can add a US number to your SIM card for just $19. This way, you will have a German number as well as a US number. If you want, you can forward your current US number to the new one ensuring that you are seamlessly reachable. Otherwise, you can give select individuals your new US number. Each block of 6 hours of incoming calls on the US number are just $19 and is valid for 30 days.

Will the Germany SIM card work with my phone?
As long as your cell phone is unlocked and has the 900 and 1800 Mhz bands, it is compatible with your phone for calling and as long as your phone has the 2100 Mhz 3G bands, it is compatible for data.
How do I know if my phone is unlocked?
You cannot tell physically if your cell phone is unlocked. If you are with AT&T and you put a different SIM card (such as T-Mobile) in and it picks up a network, it is unlocked. Conversely, if you put another SIM card in and it says, "enter subsidy code" or similar, it is locked. Call your carrier to check to see if your phone is unlocked or if it qualifies for being unlocked.
Do you offer micro and nano SIM cards?
Yes we do. They are available during checkout.
Why don't I just purchase a SIM card when I get to Germany?
Purchasing a SIM card for your phone when you arrive in Germany is inconvenient. Most people do not want to cut into their vacation time in order to do so. Plus, they want to have the phone number before they leave and their phone available to use as soon as they arrive. In addition, the Lebara German card has better rates and bundles than SIM cards available in Germany and has English instructions and English speaking customer service.
How good is the coverage?
In a word; excellent. Lebara uses the T-Mobile network in Germany which is one of the largest carriers. As a rule of thumb, as long as there are roads that are traveled on and houses where people live, there is coverage.
Where can I get more talk time?
You can get additional call credit either through Cellular Abroad or through any convenient store. Ask for a recharge voucher for Lebara Germany.
Will it work as soon as I land in Germany?
Yes it will.
Does it work outside of Germany?
Yes but you will incur roaming rates. Unless you are taking a short trip outside of Germany (ex. Austria for the day), we don't recommend roaming with your SIM card.
How much will it cost people in the USA/Canada to call me on my German number?
That depends on their plan. A great option is to add the "US Number" feature to your service. Each $19 will give you 240 minutes of incoming calls on a US number.
Can I keep my usual number?
Yes you can. Purchase the US Number add on and forward your current number to the new one (ask your carrier what the procedure is). This is ideal for business travelers who need to be reached at all times but is also a double edged sword for travelers going for a bit of rest and relaxation as anyone who calls your usual number will reach you. Another option is just to give a select few your new US number.
Can I use the SIM card next year when I go to Germany?
Perhaps. You must add call credit at least once every 80 days to retain your number and service.
