Egypt (MobiNil) SIM Card Instructions

If you experience any technical difficulties with your phone or SIM card and you do not contact Cellular Abroad for technical support by phone or by email during your trip, we cannot offer any refund or compensation.

Dialing information
Your phone needs to be an unlocked dual-band, tri-band or quad-band GSM phone capable of functioning on the 900/1800 MHz GSM band in order to accept the SIM card.

Your Egypt Cell to US: 001 – area code – phone number
US to Your Egypt Cell: 011 – 20 –area code – 9-digit number (drop the 0 in the 10-digit phone number)
Your Egypt Cell Number to Egypt: area code - phone number
Egypt to Your Egypt Cell Number: area code - phone number

Important:  US toll free numbers are not accessible from overseas. Be sure to get valid international numbers prior to your departure.

Please Note: There is no support for service when roaming outside of Egypt.

Rental Setup

  • Make sure your phone is charged and the menu settings are in English.

For SIM Card Purchases Only
Your Egypt mobile phone number is displayed on the front of your SIM card packaging....

  • Travel to Egypt
  • Set your cell phone to the GSM 900 or GSM 900/1800 frequencies
  • Be sure that battery is charged
  • Insert the EGYPT SIM chip into the cellular phone*
  • Turn on your phone
  • Enter the PIN code
    • Your Egypt SIM card required a 4-digit PIN code, the PIN code is printed on the SIM card jacket. The PUK is only required to unblock you phone if you enter in a PIN code incorrectly. Follow your cell phone manual instructions to correctly use the PUK to unblock your phone.
  • Start calling

Activate Voice Mail:
Use your voice mailbox as an answering machine whenever you are unreachable. Callers can record their messages and you can listen to them anytime. You will be notified via SMS whenever a new message is left in your mailbox. To use this service, simply call 444 or our customer service at 333. To personalize and retrieve your voicemail service, dial 444 (0.034 pt). Voicemail has with no monthly charges.

To use this service, please perform one of the following steps:

  • Activation through IVRCall 444 and follow the instructions.
  • Unconditional DivertType on your mobile *21*444# and press the dial key.
  • Unreachable DivertType on your mobile *62*444# and press the dial key.
  • Busy DivertType on your mobile *67*444# and press the dial key.
  • Not Answered DivertType on your mobile *61*444# and press the dial key.
  • All Conditions DivertType on your mobile *004*444# and press the dial key.
  • To cancelType on your mobile ##002# and press the dial key.

Checking your credit
To check your current balance call 555 or type *555# then press call or yes button, you will see the balance on your cell phone screen.

Purchasing More Talk Time
To top up your Etisalat Ahlan account, purchase a scratch card from any of out Etisalat shops or authorized dealer with a denomination from $ 0.55 upto $46.00. Scratch off the foil gently and perform one of the following steps:

  • Call 555 to reach your account manager. Follow the instructions to enter the 15 digit code written on the scratch card. Your account will be recharged with the value of the scratch card.
  • Send an SMS with 15 digit code to the network. Simply dial *556* followed by the secret 15 digit code and a # sign.
  • Example: If the 15 digit code is 11113434565677, type *556*111123434565677# and press the dial key. You will receive in return a text message, indicating your account was successfully recharged.

Troubleshooting
If you are unable to make or receive calls switch networks on your phone.  Consult your phone’s manual.  The steps will be like these:

  • Menu > Settings/Setup > Network > Available Network/Change Network > Search
  • Select a different network carrier than the one currently shown.

If you are receiving no reception bars, emergency calls only, SOS, or no service
check your phones band setting:  Consult your phone’s manual. The steps will be like these:

  • Menu > Settings/Setup > Network > Network Setup >Band
  • Make sure you select 900/1800

Service Life
Your Egypt SIM card is valid upto 3 years after the date of first call.

To inquire about the possibility of extending your SIM card’s service life while outside the SIM card’s country of origin contact the telecom provider's customer service, Cellular Abroad does not provide support for this feature.
