The Duet D8A is essentially two phones in one. The phone features a dual SIM mechanism that allows you have 2 SIM cards in your phone simultaneously – the local SIM card and perhaps a Talk Abroad international SIM card. The Talk Abroad SIM Card works in 200 countries and offers unlimited free incoming calls in over 99 countries. This is an advantageous solution for many scenarios, including:

You can make or receive calls with whichever SIM you choose as long as there is call credit so essentially, you will have redundancy in terms of service – if you are out of credit on one SIM, you can use the other SIM card or if there is no service on one service provider, there may be service on a different provider.

Or, perhaps you will be primarily in one country but take trips to other countries as well. The Talk Abroad SIM is intended specifically for use in multiple countries. Most “country specific” SIM cards on the other hand do not allow you to roam outside of the country.

Two SIM cards means that you have two phone numbers – perhaps you can use one for business and one for friends and family.

If you absolutely need to retain your current US service while roaming overseas yet do not want to take advantage of Cellular Abroad’s low rates.

Alternatively, you can swap out one of the SIMs and put in your US or Canadian SIM. While we recommend that you avoid using your current SIM as the roaming rates are high, some users absolutely need to retain their local number overseas.
