Czech Republic (O2) SIM Card Instructions

If you experience any technical difficulties with your phone or SIM card and you do not contact Cellular Abroad for technical support by phone or by email during your trip, we cannot offer any refund or compensation.

Requirements
Your phone needs to be an unlocked dual-band, tri-band or quad-band GSM phone capable of functioning on the 900/1800 MHz GSM band in order to accept the SIM card.

Your Czech Republic Cell to US: 001 – area code – phone number
US to Your Czech Republic Cell: 011 – 420 – area code – phone number
Your Czech Republic Cell Number to Czech Republic: area code - phone number
Czech Republic to Your Czech Republic Cell Number: area code - phone number

Important: US toll free numbers are not accessible from overseas. Be sure to get valid international numbers prior to your departure.

Please Note: There is no support for service when roaming outside of the Czech Rep.

Rental Setup

  • Make sure your cell phone is charged and the menu settings are in English.

For SIM Card Purchases Only
Snap out the SIM chip from the SIM card and insert the chip into your GSM Phone with the metal portion facing down as to make contact with the contact prongs.Turn on phone.

  • Make sure the phone is charged and the menu settings are in English.
  • Enter 4 digit PIN code (which you will find in the SIM Card holder in your SIM package). (See section below.)
  • Make sure to take your recharge voucher with you. You will not be able to apply the credit until you arrive in the Czech Republic.

PIN and PUK codes
The PIN (Personal Identification Number) code prevents unauthorized access to the SIM card in your phone. If you enter the PIN code incorrectly 3 times in a row, the SIM card will be blocked. To un-block the SIM card, you will need to enter the PUK (Personal Unlock Key) code. Please consult your manual for how to disable the PIN-check feature.
Activating the SIM

  • Go to the Czech Republic
  • Turn on your phone and wait until your phone detects the network and displays the network name on your handset.
  • Place a call. Don't forget the area code, even if you are calling within your same area.

Checking your credit
Dial *104*# and send. The remaining credit will appear on the display of your telephone.

Purchasing More Talk Time
O2 recharge coupons are available at O2 shops and from numerous convenience outlets in the amount of 400 CZK, 800 CZK and 2000 CZK.

Adding Talk Time
To add talk time

  • Gently scratch off protective coating on the back of the recharge voucher to reveal the code.
  • Dial *102*, your refill code, then #, then send.

Troubleshooting
If you are unable to make or receive calls switch networks on your phone.  Consult your phone’s manual.  The steps will be like these:

  • Menu > Settings/Setup > Network > Available Network/Change Network > Search
  • Select a different network carrier than the one currently shown.

If you are receiving no reception bars, emergency calls only, SOS, or no service
check your phones band setting:  Consult your phone’s manual. The steps will be like these:

  • Menu > Settings/Setup > Network > Network Setup >Band
  • Make sure you select 1900

Customer Service
For network or service issues:

  • Call *11 from your mobile phone and then ask to talk to a service representative in English (or ask a Czech speaking person to call for you.)
  • From abroad, call +420 720 720 720.

Rates
All incoming calls, regardless of origin, are free.

Domestic Outgoing : US$0.35

International Outgoing : US$0.44

Service Life
You must add a minimum of 200 CZK per year to the O2 Prepaid account. After recharging you have one year to use the credit before it expires. If you do not recharge the card within this time, the SIM card will be deactivated and the account will be terminated.
To inquire about the possibility of extending your SIM card’s service life while outside the SIM card’s country of origin contact the telecom provider's customer service, Cellular Abroad does not provide support for this feature.
