Our China Mobile SIM card is a popular choice for travelers to China. The rates, at just $0.06 per minute - even for international calls, are a small fraction of what you would expect to pay through Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and other providers. China Mobile is the largest cellular carrier not only in China but the entire planet and therefore, the coverage is a good as it can possibly get in China. The initial SIM card has 250 minutes of call credit for use in China. If you need additional talk time, you can purchase it upfront together with your SIM card, locally in China or through Cellular Abroad during your trip. Along with the Chinese phone number (based out of Shanghai) the SIM card also has a Hong Kong phone number that come standard with the SIM card. We also offer the option of adding a US phone number to your service. Please note that the US number will work either for China or for your Hong Kong Number. If you need it a US number for both locations, you will need to order two US phone numbers. Having a US number(s) allows you to either call forward your current phone number to the new one or to simply give out the new one to your US or Canadian contacts. This service is just $19 and gives you up to 11 hours of call forwarding to either China or Hong Kong. We offer standard, micro and nano SIM cards. Please check to see what SIM card standard your unlocked cell phone requires.

When will I get my SIM card?
We ship our SIM cards to you prior to your departure so you are ready to go as soon as you land. Standard shipping takes 4-5 business days. We also offer express options.
Will the SIM card work with my phone?
As long as your cell phone is unlocked and has the 900 and 1800 Mhz bands, it is compatible with your phone.
How do I know if my phone is unlocked?
You cannot tell physically if your cell phone is unlocked. If you are with AT&T and you put a different SIM card (such as T-Mobile) in and it picks up a network, it is unlocked. Conversely, if you put another SIM card in and it says, "enter subsidy code" or similar, it is locked. Call your carrier to check to see if your phone is unlocked or if it qualifies for being unlocked.
Do you offer micro and nano SIM cards?
Yes we do. They are available during checkout.
Why don't I just purchase a SIM card when I get to China?
There are many different types of SIM cards in China - some good for local calls, some just for texting, some for other purposes. The China Mobile SIM card we offer, besides having English customer service and instructions, is specifically designed for travelers who need to make international calls.
How good is the coverage?
In a word; excellent. As a rule of thumb, as long as there are roads that are traveled on and houses where people live, there is coverage. Of course, that doesn't always mean that there is coverage every where and all the time. Still, most travelers are surprised at how extensive the coverage typically is.
Is there voicemail?
There is no voicemail at this time.
If I add-on the US phone number, will people be able to reach me when I am in China?
Yes, they will be able to reach you while in China but since we can only forward it to one number, they will not be able to reach you in Hong Kong on the US number. They will need to dial the Hong Kong number.
Where can I get more talk time?
You can get additional call credit either through Cellular Abroad or locally in China.
Will it work as soon as I land in China?
Does it work outside of China?
It will work in China and Hong Kong but not anywhere else.
How much will it cost people in the USA/Canada to call me on my Italian number?
That depends on their plan. A great option is to add the "US Number" feature to your service.
Can I keep my usual number?
Yes you can. Purchase the US Number add on and forward your current number to the new one (ask your carrier what the procedure is). This is ideal for business travelers who need to be reached at all times but is also a double edged sword for travelers going for a bit of rest and relaxation as anyone who calls your usual number will reach you. Another option is just to give a select few your new US number.
Can I use the SIM card next year when I go to China?
Yes but please note that there is a 15 RMB monthly fee. Therefore, if you plan on using your SIM next year, you will need to top up it with a couple of hundred RMB.
