Please be sure to read these instructions prior to departing for the Caribbean.

If you experience any technical difficulties with your phone or SIM card and you do not contact Cellular Abroad for technical support by phone or by email during your trip, we cannot offer any refund or compensation.

Dialing information
Your phone needs to be an unlocked dual-band, tri-band or quad-band GSM phone capable of functioning on the 850/1900 MHz GSM band in order to accept the SIM card.
Your Caribbean Cell to US: 1 – area code – phone number
US to Caribbean Cell: 1 – area code – phone number

Important: US toll free numbers are not accessible from overseas. Be sure to get valid international numbers prior to your departure.

Please Note: There is no support for service when roaming outside of the Caribbean

Setup for Rentals / Phone Purchases

  • The SIM Card has been installed
  • Make sure your phone is charged
  • The PIN code has been deactivated
  • The initial credit has been preloaded
  • Your first outgoing call once in the Caribbean activates the service

Setup For SIM card only purchases

  • Snap out the SIM chip from the SIM card and insert the chip into your GSM Phone with the metal portion facing down as to make contact with the contact prongs.
  • If prompted for a PIN code scratch off the silver portion of the SIM card packaging to reveal the PIN number. Enter the 4 digit PIN number and then the send/call key.
  • The initial credit has been preloaded
  • Your first outgoing call once in the Caribbean activates the service

PIN and PUK codes
The PIN (Personal Identification Number) code prevents unauthorized access to the SIM card in your phone. In case the PIN-check feature has been enabled, it is strongly recommended that you have it turned off. If you enter the PIN code incorrectly 3 times in a row, the SIM card will be blocked. To un-block the SIM card, you will need to enter the PUK (Personal Unlock Key) code. Please consult your manual for how to disable the PIN-check feature.

Checking your credit

  1. Check your Top Up balance anytime dial *3733 (Jamaica …Dial 121 on Mobile and follow the prompts)
  2. Text BAL to 4255 (all Islands) 444-4255 (Jamaica)

Purchasing More Talk Time
The most convenient way is by calling Cellular Abroad 1 310-862-7100 (Mon-Fri 8-4 PST) during your trip. A $29 top up will get you approximately 8 minutes back to the US and up to 30 minutes within the Caribbean. We will add your call credit directly to your account.

Alternatively, you may purchase a Lime prepaid recharge voucher locally. Scratch and reveal the PIN on the back of the card, dial *3733 and follow the instructions to recharge your account

If you are unable to make or receive calls, make sure you have call credit on your account as per the “checking your credit” instructions above. Please remember that you need to make one outgoing call in order to activate your service. If your handset says, “insert SIM” and your SIM card is inserted, or prompts you for a subsidy code, your phone may not be unlocked properly.

Service Life
Your SIM card is good for one year.  Each recharge extends the life of your SIM card for one year from the date of the recharge.  If one year lapses then your SIM card and phone number will expire.

To inquire about the possibility of extending your SIM card’s service life while outside the SIM card’s country of origin, contact the telecom provider's customer service, Cellular Abroad does not provide support for this feature.
