Activation:
Your Caribbean SIM card is activated when you make your first call.
Purchasing More Talk Time:
You may add call credit by calling Cellular Abroad. We will add call credit directly to your account. Alternatively, you may purchase a scratch card locally. Dial *3733 and follow the prompts.
Cell Phone Compatibility:
Your cell phone must be unlocked and equipped with the 850 and 1900 MHz networks. Most phones with T-Mobile and AT&T have the appropriate networks but are locked. In most cases, your carrier WILL unlock your phone. If you cannot unlock your phone or are with Sprint or Verizon and your phone does not have the appropriate networks, you may rent or purchase one of Cellular Abroad’s handsets.
Cellular Coverage in the Caribbean:
Cellular Coverage in the Caribbean is exceptional but, please be advised that this is not a satellite phone and hence, you will usually not get service out at sea. There often is cell phone service along the coast but, GSM cellular service is intended to be used on land. Please click here for a coverage map:

Service Life:
Your Caribbean SIM card is good for one year. Each recharge extends the life of your SIM card for one year from the date of the recharge. If one year lapses then your SIM card and phone number will expire.
Multi-Country Travel
You can also purchase other SIM cards as well for other countries to where you may be traveling. (This option is good for those planning on doing a lot of local calling.) We also offer an international roaming National Geographic Talk Abroad™ SIM Card that is convenient for travel to multiple countries. (This option is useful for those wanting a single number for use in multiple countries and who will be making more calls back home than locally.) |
