If you experience any technical difficulties with your phone or SIM card and you do not contact Cellular Abroad for technical support by phone or by email during your trip, we cannot offer any refund or compensation.

Dialing information
Your phone needs to be an unlocked dual-band, tri-band or quad-band GSM phone capable of functioning on the 1900 MHz GSM band in order to accept the SIM card.

Your Bahamas Cell to US: 1 – area code – phone number
US to Your Bahamas Cell: 1 – 242 – phone number
Your Bahamas Cell Number to Bahamas: area code – phone number
Bahamas to Your Bahamas Cell Number: 242 – phone number

Important: Toll free 800 numbers based in the US can not always be called from overseas cell phones. If you are able to connect, you will be charged for an international outgoing call.

 Please Note: There is no support for service when roaming outside of the Bahamas.

Rental / Phone Purchase Setup

  • The SIM card has been installed
  • Make sure your phone is charged
  • You must add the included initial credit voucher once you arrive in the Bahamas
  • See activating your service below

Setup For SIM Purchases Only

  • Snap out the SIM chip from the SIM card and insert the chip into your GSM Phone with the metal portion facing down as to make contact with the contact prongs.
  • You must add the included initial credit voucher once you arrive in the Bahamas
  • See activating your service below

Activating your service

  1. Upon arrival, enter your voucher code from your "Rockit" Airtime Value voucher.
  2. Dial *44 <send> on your cell phone to reach the interactive voice response (IVR)
  3. Press 2 to add time
  4. Enter the 12-digit PIN on your card when prompted. 
  5. You will receive confirmation on your phone screen that the credit has been applied
  6. Your phone is now active and you may start calling

Call Credit
You may check your remaining credit as often as you like, free of charge. Enter *200# on your cell phone and press the SEND key.

Purchasing Talk Time
You can purchase recharge cards (airtime vouchers) before as well as during your trip from Cellular Abroad (7 days/week, 8am-8pm EST, English speaking reps).  We carry only the Bahamas Rockit™ $20 Prepaid Airtime Voucher for $29.

In the Bahamas, at a wide variety of vendors displaying the Cybercell sign, the Rockit airtime vouchers can be purchased at one of the Cybercell points of sale or distributors including many convenience stores, gas stations, the post office and magazine kiosks. Recharge cards are available in 3 denominations: $5, $10 and $20. To apply your credit:

Adding Talk Time

  1. Dial *44 <send> on your cell phone to reach the interactive voice response (IVR)
  2. Press 1 to check your balance
  3. Press 2 to add time
  4. Enter the 12-digit PIN on your card when prompted. 

Please note:

  • The IVR will respond with the balance and the expiration date
  • For Express Payment, enter *33, your 12-digit PIN <send>

Voice Mail
There is a $2 monthly fee that will be subtracted from your credit in order to have voicemail as well as a $10 activation fee. You will need to dial customer service in order to have them set up your voicemail. The number to dial, once you are in the Bahamas, is 302-7845.

Troubleshooting
If you are unable to make or receive calls switch networks on your phone.   Consult your phone’s manual.  The steps will be like these:

  • Menu > Settings/Setup > Network > Available Network/Change Network > Search
  • Select a different network carrier than the one currently shown.

If you are receiving no reception bars, emergency calls only, SOS, or no service
check your phones band setting:  Consult your phone’s manual. The steps will be like these:

  • Menu > Settings/Setup > Network > Network Setup >Band
  • Make sure you select 900/1800

Service Life
You must reload your Cybercell BaTelCo prepaid Bahamas SIM card at least once every 60 days or your credit will expire. After the expiration period, you have another 90 days in order to add talk time.
To inquire about the possibility of extending your SIM card’s service life while outside the SIM card’s country of origin, contact the telecom provider's customer service, Cellular Abroad does not provide support for this feature.
