Rental Setup
- Make sure your phone is charged before you leave and your menu settings are in English.
- See Activating your service below
For SIM Card Only Purchases
Snap out the SIM chip from the SIM card and insert the chip into your GSM Phone with the metal portion facing down as to make contact with the contact prongs.
- Make sure the phone is charged and the menu settings are in English.
- If prompted for a PIN number, your default PIN is "0000". To disable PIN-check at startup, consult your phone's user guide.
PIN and PUK codes
The PIN (Personal Identification Number) code prevents unauthorized access to the SIM card in your phone. If you enter the PIN code incorrectly 3 times in a row, the SIM card will be blocked. To un-block the SIM card, you will need to enter the PUK (Personal Unlock Key) code. Please consult your manual for how to disable the PIN-check feature.

- On your phone: Select ‘Account’ on your mobile phone menu, then ‘Balance’ Enter your 6 digit phone account PIN and follow the instructions. An SMS message will be sent to you showing your balance.
Purchasing More Talk Time
The easiest way to purchase more talk time is by calling Cellular Abroad +1 310-862-7100 (8am to 8pm EST, 7 days a week, English speaking reps) before as well as during your trip. The recharge card is the "Lebara Mobile Pre-Paid Mobile Recharge Card". Or you can find them at outlets including convenience stores and gas stations in Australia.
Adding More Talk Time
Even if you have zero credit, since incoming calls are always free, you will still be able to receive calls. If you purchase a recharge voucher through Cellular Abroad, we can add the talk time for you. If you have a physical voucher that you purchased locally, follow these steps:
- Select ‘Account’ on your mobile phone menu, then ‘Payment’ then ‘Voucher’.
- Enter your 6 digit Lebara account PIN and follow the instructions
Troubleshooting
Make sure you have activated your service on the Lebara website. Make sure your phone is on the 900/1800 MHz band settings. If you can receive calls but cannot make calls, this is a sign that you need to add talk time to your account.
