Preparing Your Phone for use overseas:
While you won't be able to use your SIM card until you get to Australia, there are a few things you can do to test your equipment and prep your phone.
- Test that your phone charger works well with your phone and make sure your phone's battery can take and hold a charge. (All Cellular Abroad phones come with variable-voltage chargers.)
- Make sure your phone is an unlocked GSM cell phone with the 900 and 1800 GSM bands.
- Snap out the SIM chip from the SIM card and insert the chip into your GSM Phone with the metal portion facing down as to make contact with the contact prongs. (You'll usually find your phone's SIM card slot underneath the battery of your GSM cell phone. Consult your phone manual if unsure of the proper installation procedure.)
- Turn on your phone and familiarize yourself with the menus. If prompted for a PIN number, your default PIN is "0000". To disable PIN-check at startup, consult your phone's user guide.
Convenient Tip: You can purchase additional recharge codes via phone whenever you need to add more call credits to your prepaid account. No need to ship you a card!
